ಸತ್ಯ,ಅಸತ್ಯ,ಸುಳ್ಳು

:


ಸತ್ಯವೆನ್ನುವುದು ಅತಿ ಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಜೀವಿ. ಮೋಂಬತ್ತಿಯ ಉರಿಯಂತೆ ಬಹಳ ಜಾಗೃತಿಯಾಗಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು.

ಇಲ್ಲದ್ದಿದ್ದಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ಷಣಾರ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ನಂದಿ ಹೊಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಜನಗಳ ಜ್ಞಾಪಕ ಶಕ್ತಿಯಂತೆ ಅದರ ಇರುವಿಕೆಯೂ ಅಳಿಸಿ ಮರೆತು ಹೋಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ಅಸತ್ಯ ಸತ್ಯ ಎನ್ನುವ ನಾಣ್ಯದ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಮುಖ. ತದ್ವಿರುದ್ಧ. ಚಿರಸ್ಥಾಯಿ. ಗಟ್ಟಿ ಜೀವ.

ಅದನ್ನು ಎಷ್ಟು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸಿದರೂ ನಾಶ ಮಾಡಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ. ವರ್ಷಾನು ಗಟ್ಟಲೆಯಾದರು ಅಸತ್ಯ ಸಾಯದು. ಮುಚ್ಚಿಡಲೂ ಆಗದು.

ಸುಳ್ಳು ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿಡಲು ಮಾನವನು ತನ್ನ ಅನುಕೂಲಕ್ಕೆ ಅಳವಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಉಡುಪು. ಹಾಗು, ಸತ್ಯ ಅಸತ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆತ್ತಲೆ ನೋಡಲು ಧೈರ್ಯವಿರದ ಮಾನವನ ಸಂಕೋಚ, ಪುಕ್ಕಲು ಪ್ರವೃತ್ತಿಯ ಸಂಕೇತ. ಇದನ್ನು ಭಗವಂತ ಅಡಂ ಮತ್ತು ಈವ್ ಅವರೊಡನೆಯೇ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿದನೇನೋ?

ಸತ್ಯ ಅಸತ್ಯ ಎಂದು ಬರಿ ಕಪ್ಪು ಬಿಳುಪೆಂದು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸುವುದು ಅತಿ ಧೀರತ್ವ. ಈ ಚೈತನ್ಯ ಎಲ್ಲರಲ್ಲೂ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದಕ್ಕೇ ಏನೋ ಮಾನವ ಸಮಾಜ ಕಪ್ಪು ಬಿಳುಪಿನ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ೨೫೫ ದರ್ಜೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಿರುವುದು.

ಇದನ್ನು ಉದಾಹರಣೆ ಎನ್ನುವ ಕಿಡಕಿಯ ಮೂಲಕ ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಸುಲಭವಾಗಿ ಅರ್ಥವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ಮುನಿರತ್ನ ಕೊಲೆ ಗೋಡೆ ಕಂಟ್ರಾಕ್ಟರ್, ಕಾರ್ಪೊರೇಟರ್, ಇತ್ತೀಚಿನ ಸುದ್ದಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವವ.

ಸಂಜನಾ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಅವನು ಕಟ್ಟಿದ ಗೋಡೆ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿ ಸತ್ತ ಮರುದಿನ, ಮರುಗಿ

೧ ಕೋಟಿ ರೂಪಾಯಿ ಪರಿಹಾರ ಕೊಡಲು ಸಿದ್ಧವಿದ್ದವ.

ಆಗ ಸತ್ಯ ಅವನಿಗೂ ಅರಿವಿತ್ತು. ತಾನು ಕಟ್ಟಿದ ಕೀಳು ಮಟ್ಟದ ಗೋಡೆಯೇ ಅವಳ ಸಾವಿಗೆ ಕಾರಣ ಎಂದು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಅರಿತಿದ್ದ. ಆ ಅಪರಾಧ ಪ್ರಜ್ಞೆಯೇ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾತಾಡಲು ಪ್ರೇರೆಪಿಸಿದ್ದು.

ಮಾನವ ಸಹಜ ಪುಕ್ಕಲು, ಲೋಭಕ್ಕೆ ಆ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತಾಣವಿರಲ್ಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ಸಮಯ ಸರಿದಂತೆ ಆ ಭಾವನೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತೆ ತುಂಬಿಕೊಂಡವು. ತಾನೊಬ್ಬನೇ ಆ ಅನ್ಯಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಲಾಭ ಪಡೆದವನಲ್ಲ? ಏನೂ ಮಾಡದೆಯೇ ಆ ೮೦೦ ಅಡಿ ಗೋಡೆಯಿಂದ ಲಕ್ಷಾಂತರ ಗಳಿಸಿ ಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಇತರರೂ ಆ ಕೊಲೆಗೆ ಹೊಣೆ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ? ತಾನೊಬ್ಬನೇ ಯಾಕೆ ಪರಿಹಾರ ಕೊಡಬೇಕು? ಹಾಗು ಜೈಲೂ ಸೇರ ಬೇಕು? ಯೋಚನೆಗಳು ಬಂದಕೂಡಲೇ ಈ ಉಡುಪುಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಗಾದರೂ ಮಾಡಿ ಆ ಸತ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಉಡಿಸಿ ಅಸತ್ಯವನ್ನಾಗಿಸಲು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದ. ಉಡುಪು ಒಂದು ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ

ಸುಳ್ಳೇ ಸೈ! ಅದು ನಿಜವನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿಡುತ್ತದೆ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ? ಅಲ್ಲ ಅದರ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯವೇ ಅದಲ್ಲವೇ?

ಈಗ ಅದು ತಾನು ಬರೇ ಸಪ್ಪ್ಲೇಯರ್ ತನ್ನ ಹೊಣೆ ಏನೂ ಇಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ನಾಟಕ ಶುರು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಇದು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಅಪರಾಧಿಗಳ ಧಾಟಿಯೇ. ಕುಡಿದು ಪ್ರಾಣ ಹಾನಿ ಮಾಡಿದ ನಂದಾ, ಸಾಲ್ಮಾನ್ ಖಾನ್ ಅವರ ಗಾಡಿ ಮಾಲೀಕ ನಾನಲ್ಲ ಬರೇ ಚಾಲಕ ಎನ್ನುವ ಸಬೂಬಿನಂತೆ.

ಮುಂದೆ ಮುನಿರತ್ನಂ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ತಪ್ಪಿತಸ್ಥರಂತೆ ತನಗೆ ಅನ್ಯಾಯವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಸರ್ಕಾರದಿಂದ ಏಕೆ ಸಿಂಗ್ ರವರ ಪರಿವಾರದಿಂದಲೇ ಪರಿಹಾರ ಕೇಳಲು ಶುರು ಮಾಡಿದರೂ ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯವೇನಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಸಲು ಈ ನಡುವೆ ಅನೇಕ ವಕೀಲರೂ ಸಿದ್ಧವಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ!

ಹಾಗಿರುವಾಗ ಸುಳ್ಳು , ಸತ್ಯ ಅಸತ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿಡಲು ಮಾಡಿರುವ ಮಾನವ ನಿರ್ಮಿತ ಉಡುಪು ಅನ್ನಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೇ?

ಮಹಾತ್ಮಾ ಗಾಂಧಿಯವರ ಜನ್ಮ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಸತ್ಯದ ಕೊಲೆ?

ಇತ್ತೀಚಿನ ಒಂದು ಘಟನೆಯೇ ಈ ಆಲೋಚನೆಗೆ ಮೂಲ ಕಾರಣ.

ಮೊದಲನೆಯ ನೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ಇದು ಅಷ್ಟು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಅಪರಾಧವೆಂದು ಅನ್ನಿಸದು.

ಆದರೆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಆಲೋಚನೆ ಮಾಡಿ ನೋಡಿದರೆ ಈ ಬಗೆಯ ಸಣ್ಣ ಸಣ್ಣ ದಿನಂಪ್ರತಿ ಆಗುವ ಮತ್ತು ನಾವು

ತಡೆದು ಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿರುವ ಪ್ರಸಂಗಗಳಿಂದಲೇ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶ ಹಾಳಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಕಾರಣವನ್ನು ಕಾಣ ಬಹುದು.

ಎರಡು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕೆಳಗೆ ನನ್ನ ಮಗನ ದ್ವಿಚಕ್ರ ವಾಹನ ಶಿರಸ್ತ್ರಾಣ ಧರಿಸದೆ ನಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದ ಉಲ್ಲಂಘನೆಯ ಸೂಚನೆ ಬಂತು.

ಕಾನೂನು ಪರಿಪಾಲನೆಯ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯದ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರಿವಿದ್ದ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ಸಾಧ್ಯವೇ ಇಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ.

ಆದರೂ ಅಕಸ್ಮಾತ್ ಅವನ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರು ಯಾರಾದರೂ ಒಂದು ಕ್ಷಣ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಹೊಗಿರಬಹುದೆಂಬ ಸಣ್ಣ
ಸಂಶಯದಿಂದ ಕೇವಲ ೧೦೦ ರೂಪಾಯಿ ಎಂದು ಕಟ್ಟಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟೆ.
ಈಗ ಒಂದು ವರ್ಷದ ಹಿಂದೆ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಅದೇ ದಿವಸ, ಅದೇ ಸಮಯಕ್ಕೆ ಅದೇ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದೇ ಉಲ್ಲಂಘನೆ ಆದರೆ ಸೆಲ್ ಫೋನ್ ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸುತ್ತಿದ ಉಲ್ಲಂಘನೆಯೋಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಬಂದಿತು.

ಆದರೆ ಈ ಬಾರಿ ಈ ಸೂಚನೆಯನ್ನು ನಂಬುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಒಂದೇ ತೊಂದರೆ. ನನ್ನ ಮಗ ಅಮೇರಿಕಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದ.

ಆ ಸ್ಕೂಟರ್ನ ಏಕೈಕ ಚಾಲಕಿ ನನ್ನ ಮಗಳು ಅದೇ ಸಮಯಕ್ಕೆ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲೇ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ವರಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿ ವ್ರತ, ಗೃಹ ಪ್ರವೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುತ್ತಿದಳು.

ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಸಾಲದೆಂಬಂತೆ ಆಗ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡ ವೀಡಿಯೋದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವಳೂ, ಮತ್ತು ಅಲ್ಲೇ ಬಾಗಿಲಲ್ಲೇ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದ ಸ್ಕೂಟರ್ನ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳೂ ಇದ್ದವು.

ಈ ಬಾರಿ ೨೦೦ ರೂಪಾಯಿ ದಂಡ.
ಸತ್ಯಾಂಶ ತಿಳಿದಿದ್ದ ನಾನು ಮೇಲಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಿಗೆ- ಮುಖ್ಯ ಮಂತ್ರಿಗಳೊಳಗೊಂDu   - ದೂರು ಕೊಟ್ಟೆ.

ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರತಿ ತಿಂಗಳು ಏನಾಯಿತೆಂದು ಕಡೆಯ ೧೧ ಬಾರಿ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಕೇಳಿ ಬರೆದೆ.

ಈಗ ೪ ದಿನದ ಕೆಳಗೆ, ನಾನು ಹೇಳಿದ ಅಂಶಗಳನ್ನು ಕಡೆಗಣಿಸಿ,ಆ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ # ೧೧೩೦೩ ಯ ಪುಸ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ ವರದಿ ನಮೂದಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ, ಹಾಗು ಅದರ ಕ್ಷೆರಾಕ್ಸ್ ಕಾಪಿಯನ್ನು

-ಲಗತ್ತಿಸದೆ- ಲಗತ್ತಿಸಿ ದ್ದೇವೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಿಮಗೆ ಕಳಿಸಿರುವ ಸೂಚನೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂಬ ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ತಾವು ಸಮರ್ಥಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ, ಫಿರ್ಯಾದಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊನೆಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಸಮಜಾಯಿಷಿಯನ್ನು ಕಳಿಸಿದರು.

ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಏನು ಮಾಡುವುದೆಂದು ತಿಳಿಯದೆ ಕೆಲವು ನಿದ್ರಾ ರಹಿತ ರಾತ್ರಿಗಳಿಂದ ಚಡಪಡಿಸಿದೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ಅನೇಕರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿ ಕೊಂಡು, ೩೦೦ ರೂಪಾಯಿ ತಾನೇ ಹೋದರೆ ಹೋಗಲಿ ಹಾಳಾಗಿ ಹೋಗಲಿ ಬಿಡಿ ಎಂಬ

ಎಂಬ ಅನುಭವಾಮೃತ ಭರಿತ ಬುದ್ಧಿವಾದವನ್ನೂ ಸ್ವಾದಿಸಿದೆ.

ಆದರೆ ಸತ್ಯಕ್ಕೊಸ್ಕರ ಇ ಷ್ಟೆಲ್ಲ ಕಷ್ಟ ಪಟ್ಟರೂ ಏನೋ ಅನ್ಯಾಯವಾಗಿದೆ ಅನ್ನುವ ಕೊರಗು ಕಾಡುತ್ತಲೇ ಇತ್ತು. ತಲೆ ತಿನ್ನುತ್ತಲೇ ಇತ್ತು.

ಇದ್ದಕ್ಕಿದ್ದ ಹಾಗೆ, ಈ ಪುರಾವೆಯನ್ನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿದ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ,ಉತ್ತ್ತರವನ್ನು ಕಳಿಸಿದ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ಗಳನ್ನು ಎಲ್ಲೆಡೆ ಆವರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಮಹಾತ್ಮಾ ಗಾಂಧೀ ಯವರ ಫೋಟೋ ಹಾಗೂ ಅವರ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ

ಉಕ್ತಿ ಸತ್ಯಂ ಏವ ಜಯತೆ ಕಣ್ ಕಟ್ಟಿತು. ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ಹಗಲೂ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳ , ರಾಜಕಾರಣಿಗಳ , ನ್ಯಾಯ ಮೂರ್ತಿಗಳ , ಬಾಯಿಂದ ಪ್ರತಿ ಅವಕಾಶದಲ್ಲೂ ಹೊರಡುವ ಈ ಉಕ್ತಿಗೆ ಏನು ಬೆಲೆ?

ಹಾಗು ಎಲ್ಲರಂತೆಯೇ ನಾನೂ ಹೀಗೆಯೇ ಸುಮ್ಮನಾದರೆ ಸತ್ಯದ ಹೋರಾಟದ ಬೆಲೆ ಕೇವಲ ೨೦೦ ರೂಪಯಿಗಳೇ ಏನು ಅನ್ನುವ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಯೂ ಧಿಟ್ ಎಂದು ಉದ್ಭವಿಸಿತು.

ಅದಕ್ಕೂ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿ, ಹೀಗೆ ಸುಳ್ಳು ಪುರಾವೆಗಳಿಂದ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ನಿಲುವನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಥಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಪದ್ಧತಿ, ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೇಸಿಗೆಯೂ ಉಂಟಾಯಿತು.

ಈ ರೀತಿ ರಿವಾಜಿನಿಂದ ಸತ್ಯದ ಕೊಲೆ ಆಗುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲವೇ ಎನ್ನುವ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ಕಾಡಲು ಶುರು ಮಾಡಿತು.ಹನಿಗೂಡಿದರೆ ಹಳ್ಳ, ಸಣ್ಣ ಸಣ್ಣ ಸುಳ್ಳುಗಳ ಮಹಾ ಪೂರವೇ ಆಗುತ್ತಿದೆ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶ ಎಂದೂ ಅನ್ನಿಸಿತು.

ಆ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಯನ್ನೇ ಅದೇ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳ ಮುಂದಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆ.

ಏನಾಗುವುದೆಂದು ನೋಡೋಣ!

"See no Evil,
Hear no Evil
and Speak No Evil"
exhorted Mahatma Gandhi, the father and architect of our freedom,nation and people.
At 1billion plus we have a lot of say in what happens in the world.
As a potentially a great power atleast people power, as the biggest English speaking country in the world,
We could have much more say if we so chose.
After sixty plus years of independence, we quote Mahatma Gandhi at every opportunity.
We quote Jawaharlal Nehru, Tagore, and Indira Gandhi and many others to SUIT our convenience.
To convince ourself we are practising the ideals they advocated.
These are just balms to our guilty souls.
Lets see what we are doing.
Gandhiji Did not say
do not see what you should see,
do not hear what you should hear ,
do not speak what you should speak?
did he?
Because these three S's Sight, speech and sound, are essentials of two way communication between human beings and the world.
Loss of any one sense, -sight, speech or hearing makes us disabled human beings.
we fail to perceive 1/3 apporximately of the world with each loss of sense.
Now let us see what we have done with this piece of wisdom Mahatma Gandhi gave.
We have conveniently misinterpreted it to suit us.
The misuse of power, corruption, political rot, murder, mayhem, total disrespect for rule of law, blatant violations,
of cultural and social values, destruction of the environment by blind pursuit of lucre and "modern" automobile driven life
WE DONOT SEE.
The constant irreversible destruction of our very important sense- hearing- by noise by blind(literally) worship of modernization,
honking, industrial noises, "city" living, etc
WE DONOT HEAR
WE DONOT SEE OR HEAR,
WE ALSO DONOT SPEAK. for fear of what might happen?

We practise a gross distorted version of "speak now or forever hold your your peace!"

It is a well known fact that children born deaf will not be able to speak.

But we have chosen to be dumb even about things we should be constantly concerned about
the evils that are happening around us.


We have added a fourth monkey.
A very shameful monkey. A do nothing monkey.
Totally unconceivable and incomprehensible to Mahatma Gandhi.
One of the greatest Karmayogis the world has ever known.
Even in the wildest of his imagination.

WE DO NOTHING.
We do not do even when we can, What we can.
We wait for others to come by.
We are still waiting after sixty years of spoon feeding, someone to come by and spoonfeed us.
Successive governments will spoon feed us, atleast some of us at the cost of the others.
For VOTES SAKE. Not for who you are or what you have become or what the society has made of you.
We will wait for the mythical hindu Eternity.
for ever?

The fact that we are sitting with our arms crossed around our paunch- even those in the early 20s now a days have a respectable paunch of a 50 year old of the old days!
WE DO NOT ACT.
We are the most fatalistic, pessimistic people.
For ever looking for excuses not to do our minimal duty.
What is worse is we do not let others do their duty either.
Have you seen the way traffic violators argue for hours with the authorities about the pittance 100 or 200 rupees fine?
"It is not about the money......
it is the principle...
. ...I will apologize ...... but penalty please excuse sir....."
we are willing to grovel, beg even apologize to save that 100 rupees!
But our "sense of shame" does not extend to standing up.
and saying we violated a civic law which endangers, inconveniences, disrupts others lives and we will pay the penalty.
After all our penalties are peanuts.
10,000 for killig a human being while driving drunk!
However the pride makes us to beg, influence, grovel to ground zero so we can get away with the violation.
What is more many of us boast about that as an accomplishment?
How we subverted justice!
Particularly rubbing it into those who choose to pay the penalty dignifiedly?
We pervert justice, truth, law and order through influence in this land of Satyameva Jayate and
as if that is not enough we scorn and scoff those few who abide by law.


We crown our inactions, with the pearls of Hindu wisdom.
Karmani yeva adhikarah te, maa phaleshu kadachana.
your right is to work only and not to the fruit thereof.
Birth and death are the only two certain things in life.
or everything is predestined.

what else can be done by 1 billion Indians instead?

Practise Swami Vivekananda- "Awake, Arise, Stop not till the Goal is reached".

- atleast as much as we can?

Have the courage to act when you can and pray for the wisdom to know what you can do and what you cannot.
Atleast have the COURAGE to do things that you can and ACT.

ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ೪೫೦೦ ಕಿ.ಮಿ. ರಸ್ತೆಗಳ ಉದ್ದಗಲಗಳನ್ನು ದೊಡ್ಡದು ಮಾಡುವುದು ಸುಲಭವೇನಲ್ಲ, ಸಾಧ್ಯವೂ ಇಲ್ಲ.
ಅಜೀವ ವಸ್ತುವಾದ ವಾಹನ ಅಸುರನಂತೆ ವರ್ತಿಸುವುದು ಅದರ ಮೇಲೆ ಚಾಲಕ ಕುಳಿತಾಗಲೇ.
ಒಂದು ವಿಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಚಾಲಕನಿಗೇ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನ ಪಟ್ಟವೂ ದೊರಕಿದ ಹಾಗೆ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ?
ಹರಿತವಾದ ಚಾಕು, ರೌಡಿಯ ಹಸ್ತದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾಣಹಾನಿ ಮಾಡಬಲ್ಲುದು.
ಅದೇ ಚಾಕು ಶಸ್ತ್ರ ತಜ್ಞನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜೀವ ಉಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಬಂದೂಕು ಮತ್ತು ವಾಹನ ಚಾಲಕನ ಲೈಸೆನ್ಸ್ ಕೂಡ. ಪ್ರಾಣಾಂತಿಕ.
ವಾಹನ ಚಾಲನೆ ಜನ್ಮ ಸಿದ್ಧ ಹಕ್ಕಲ್ಲ. ಸಮಾಜ ತನ್ನ ಹಿತಕ್ಕಾಗಬಹುದಾದ ಧಕ್ಕೆಯನ್ನು ಅರಿತೂ , ನೀಡಿರುವ ವರ, ಭಾಗ್ಯ ಎಂದು ಭಾವಿಸಿ ಮಿತವಾಗಿ ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸಿ ಕೊಳ್ಳ ಬೇಕು.
ವರ ನೀಡಿದ ಹಸ್ತ ಹಿಂಪಡಿಯಲೂ ಬಹುದು.
ಆ ಅಧಿಕಾರ ಸಮಾಜಕ್ಕೆ ಇದೆ.
ಇಲ್ಲಿಯ ತನಕ ಆ ಅಧಿಕಾರವನ್ನು ಚಲಾಯಿಸಿಲ್ಲ ಎನ್ನುವುದು ಹೇಡಿತನದ, ಕೈಲಾಗದ ಲಕ್ಷಣ ಎಂದು ನಾವು ಸೊಕ್ಕಬಾರದು.
ಅದನ್ನು ದುರುಪಯೋಗ ಪಡಿಸ ಬಾರದು. ಈ ಪ್ರಜ್ಞೆ ಒಂದು ವಿಧದಲ್ಲಿ ತಂದೆ ತಾಯಿಗಳು ಮಕ್ಕಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊದಲಿನಿಂದಲೂ ಬೆಳೆಸಬೇಕು.
ಆದರೆ ಈ ನಮ್ಮ ನಾನು, ನನ್ನದು ಮತ್ತು ನನಗೆ ಎನ್ನುವ ಸ್ವಾರ್ಥಿತ್ವ ಪ್ರಾಧಾನ್ಯ ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ಅನೇಕರು ಯಾವತ್ತಿಗೂ ಕಲಿಯುವುದೇ ಇಲ್ಲ.
ಕೊನೆಯವರೆಗೆ ಕಲಿಯದಿದ್ದಲ್ಲಿ ಆವರ ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕ ಜೀವನ ಸುಗಮವಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯದೆ ಇರಬಹುದು.
ಆದರೆ ಇದೇ ಮನೋಭಾವವನ್ನು ರಸ್ತೆ ಎಂಬ ರಂಗ ಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಳೆದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದು ರಣಭೂಮಿಯಾಗಿ ಪರಿವರ್ತಿಸುವುದು.
ಈ ಹುಟ್ಟು ಗುಣಗಳು ಚಾಲನೆಯ ವಿಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಚಾಲಕನ ನಡವಳಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊರಗಿನವರಿಗೆ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ.
ದುರದೃಷ್ಟವಶಾತ್ ಇದೇ ಸಮಾಜದ ಪ್ರತಿಬಿಂಬವಾಗಿ ಬಿಡುತ್ತದೆ.
ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾವಿರಾರು ವಾಹನಗಳು ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಸುರಕ್ಷವಾಗಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಾಯ್ದೆಗಳ ಅನುಸಾರ ಓಡಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೂ, ಒಂದೇ ಒಂದು
ಸರಿಯಾಗಿಲ್ಲದ್ದಿದ್ದಲ್ಲಿ, ಎಲ್ಲರ ಹೆಸರೂ ಹಾಳಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ೧೦೦೦ ಸಿ ಸಿ ಹಾಲು ಒಂದು ಹನಿ ನಿಂಬೆ ರಸದಿಂದ ಓಡೆದಂತೆ.
ಈ ಅಂಶವನ್ನು ಅವರ್ಯಾರೋ ಒಬ್ಬರು ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಓಡಿಸದಿದ್ದರೆ ನಮಗೇನಾಯ್ತು ಎಂಬ ಧೋರಣೆ ತಳಿದಿರುವರು ಮರೆಯ ಕೂಡದು .
ಅವರ್ಯಾರದೋ ತಪ್ಪು ಕೆಲಸ ನಮ್ಮ ಹೆಸರನ್ನೂ ಕೆಡಿಸುತ್ತದೆ!
ಆ ಒಂದೇ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೊಸ್ಕರವಾಗಿಯಾದರೂ , ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ರಸ್ತೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಏನಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ, ನಾವೇ ನು ಮಾಡ ಬಹುದು ಎಂದು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಸಾಕು.
ಕಾನೂನು ಬಾಹಿರ ಚಾಲನಾ ವಿಧಾನ, ಭಂಗಿ ಎರಡೂ ರಸ್ತೆ ಸಂಚಾರಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ರೋಧ ಕೋಪ ಉಂಟು ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ.
ಹಾಗೂ ಕಾನೂನಿನ ಹತೋಟಿ ಏನಾದರೂ ಇದೆಯೇ ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
ಅದೇ ಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲ ಅನ್ನುವ ಉತ್ತರವೂ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಿಡುತ್ತದೆ.
ಈ ಬಗೆಯ ನಡವಳಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ತಡೆದು ಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿರುವ ಕಾನೂನು ಹಾಗು ಸಮಾಜದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ತಾತ್ಸಾರ
ಉದ್ಭವವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
ಇದು ಕಾಲಾಂತರ ಒಟ್ಟುಗೂಡಿ, ಸಂಯಮತೆಯ ಎಣೆ ತಲುಪುತ್ತದೆ.
ಪ್ರಕೋಪಕ್ಕೆ ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಿ ಹೋಗಿ ರಸ್ತೆ ರೋಷವಾಗಿ ಹೊರಬಿದ್ದು ಪ್ರಾಣ ಆಸ್ತಿ ಹಾನಿ ಗಳು ಉಂಟಾಗಿರುವುದು ಕಂಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ನವದೆಹಲಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯಾಪಾರಿಯ , ಮುಂಬೈನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬ ನಿವೃತ್ತ ಸೈನ್ಯಾಧಿಕಾರಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಲ್ಲೆಮಾಡಿ ಹತ್ಯೆಯೂ ಆಗಿದೆ.
ಇವೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಸಮಾಜ ತತ್ಕ್ಷಣ ತಡೆಗಟ್ಟ ಬೇಕಾದ ಅಪರಾಧ.
ಚಾಲನೆಯ ಶೈಲಿ:
ವಿಪರೀತ ವೇಗದ ಓಟ. ಪಾದಚಾರಿಗಳ ಹಕ್ಕುಗಳ ಉಲ್ಲಂಘನೆ. ಕೆಂಪು ದೀಪ ಜಿಗಿಯುವಿಕೆ. ಲೈಸೆನ್ಸ್ ಪಡೆಯಲಾಗದಂತಹ ಅಪ್ರಾಪ್ತ ವಯಸ್ಕರಿಂದ ಚಾಲನೆ. ಏಕ ಮುಖ ರಸ್ತೆಯ ಉಲ್ಲಂಘನೆ.
ಮೊನ್ನೆ ನಾನೇ ಕಂಡ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮೋಟರ್ ಸೈಕಲ್ ಚಾಲಕನ ಪರಮೋಚ್ಚ ಉಲ್ಲಂಘನೆ ಎಂದರೆ ಬಾಯಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಗರೆಟ್, ಹೆಲ್ಮೆಟ್ ರಹಿತ, ಸೆಲ್ ಫೋನ್ ಕೈ ಭರಿತ, ಓದಲಾಗದ ಮುಂದಿನ ನಂಬರ್ ಪ್ಲೇಟ್, ರಸ್ತೆಯ ಎಡ ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ದಿಕ್ಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಚಾಲನೆ, ಹಿಂದಿನ ನಂಬರ್ ಪ್ಲೇಟ್ ಹೆಲ್ಮೆಟ್ ನಿಂದ ಮುಚ್ಚಿ ಓದಲಾಗಂದತಹ ಸ್ಥಿತಿ, ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಓಡಾಡುವ ಸ್ಕೂಲ್ ಬಳಿ. ಯಾರಾದರು ಸತ್ತಿದ್ದರೆ ಸಮಾಜವೇ ಹೊಣೆ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ?
ಮೋಟಾರ್ ಸೈಕಲ್ ಹಾಗು ಇತರ ದ್ವಿ ಚಕ್ರ ವಾಹನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದೇ ಚಕ್ರದ ಮೇಲೆ ವಾಹನ ಚಾಲನೆ- ವೀಲಿ.
ಎಡಬದಿ ಚಾಲಕನ ಅಂಧ ಪ್ರದೇಶ (ಬ್ಲೈಂಡ್ ಸ್ಪಾಟ್ ).ಬಲ ತಿರುಗುತ್ತಿರುವರ ಮುಂದೆ ಎಡ ತಿರುಗುವುದು, ಎಡ ತಿರುಗುತ್ತಿರುವವರ ಎಡದಿಂದ ನೇರ ಹಾದು ಹೋಗುವುದು, ಬಲಕ್ಕೆ ತಿರುಗುವುದು . ಅಥವಾ ಮುಂದಾಟುವಿಕೆ (ಒವರ್ ಟೇಕಿಂಗ್), ಹಾವಿನಂತೆ(ವೀವಿಂಗ್) ಲೇನ್ ಬದಲಾವಣೆ.
ಅಖಂಡ ಹಳದಿ (ಸಾಲಿಡ್)ಅಥವಾ ಬಿಳಿ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ದಾಟಿ ಮೀರಿ ಮುಂದಾಟುವಿಕೆ, ಮುನ್ಸೂಚನೆ-ಅವಶ್ಯಕವಾದ ದೀಪಗಳಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಚಾಲನೆ. ಸಿಗ್ನಲ್ ಕೊಡದೆ ಎಡ ಬಲ ಅಥವಾ U ತಿರುಗುವಿಕೆ, ಪಾನ ಮತ್ತ ಚಾಲನೆ.
ಇವೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಚಲಿಸುವ(traffic/moving) ನಿಯಮಗಳ ಉಲ್ಲಂಘನೆ. ಅತೀವ ಪ್ರಾಣ ಹಾನಿ,ಘಾಸಿಕಾರಕ. ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿರುವ (ಪಾರ್ಕಿಂಗ್) ಉಲ್ಲಂಘನೆಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ತೀವ್ರತಮ ಅಪಾಯಕಾರಕ ಉಲ್ಲಂಘನೆಗಳೆಂದು ಪರಿಗಣಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತವೆ. ಈ ಬಾಲಿಶ ಶೈಲಿಯನ್ನು ರಕ್ತ ಗತ ಮಾಡಿ ಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಚಾಲಕರಿಂದ ಪ್ರೌಢ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಚಾಲನೆಯನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ತಾನೇ ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸಬಹುದು?
೨)ಚಾಲಕನ ಭಂಗಿ :
ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಸೃಜನಶೀಲತೆ, ವಿನಯಶೀಲತೆ, ಸಂಭಾವಿತತೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪಕ್ವವಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಂಡು ಬರುವ ಗುಣಗಳು.ವೃತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಬರತಕ್ಕದ್ದು.ಆದರೆ ದುರದೃಷ್ಟವಶಾತ್ ಮುಕ್ಕಾಲು ಜನ ಚಾಲಕರಿಗೆ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಕಲಿಯುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನವಂತೂ ಮಾಡುವುದೇ ಇಲ್ಲ.ವಿಶೇಷ ವಾಗಿ ಬಸ್, ಆಟೋ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ. ಅವರ ಜೀವನಾಧಾರವಾದ ಕಸುಬಾದರೂ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕ ಸೂಕ್ತ ವರ್ತನೆ ಕಲಿತಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗೆ ಕುಡಿದು ರಸ್ತೆ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ, ಹಾರನ್ ಬಾಹಿರ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅನಾವಶ್ಯಕ ಹಾರನ್ ಬಾರಿಸುತ್ತಿದ ಚಾಲಕನಿಗೆ ನೊಂದ ಆ ರಸ್ತೆಯ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳು ಯಾಕಪ್ಪ ಹೀಗೆ ಹಾರನ್ ಹೊಡಿಯುತ್ತೀಯ ಎಂದಾಗ ಅವನು "ನೀನ್ಯಾವನೋ ಕೇಳೋದ್ದಿಕ್ಕೆ, ನಿಮ್ಮಪ್ಪಂದ ರಸ್ತೆ "ಎಂದು ಬಾಯಿಗೆ ಬಂದ ಹಾಗೆ ಕೂಗಾಡಿ ಮತ್ತೆ ಗಾಡಿ ಚಲಾಯಿಸಿ ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದ. ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲೇ ತತ್ಕ್ಷಣ ಬರುವ ಪೋಲಿಸಿನವರಿದ್ದರೆ ಹಿಡಿದು ಜುಲ್ಮಾನೆ ಹಾಕಿ ಮತ್ತು ಇಳಿಯುವ ತನಕ ಜೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಡಿಸಬಹುದಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಮನೆ ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂತ ತಿಳಿದಿದ್ದ ಇಂಥ ಪುಂಡರ ಭಂಡತನದಿಂದ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯ ಪೋಲಿಸಿನವರಿಗಿದೆಯೇ?
ನಮ್ಮ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಫಿರ್ಯಾದಿಗಳ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಗುಪ್ತವಾಗಿದುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಪೂರ ವಿಫಲರಾಗಿದ್ದರೆನ್ನುವುದು ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಗೊತ್ತಿರುವ ವಿಷಯವೇ ಸರಿ.
ಕೆಲವು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಮಂತ್ರಿ ವಾಜಪೇಯೀ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಪಿ ಡಬ್ಲ್ಯೂ ಡೀಯ, ಅಕ್ರಮ ವಿಚಾರಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಫಿರ್ಯಾದಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ್ದವನನ್ನು ಅಕ್ರಮಿಗಳು ಕೊಂದೇ ಹಾಕಿಬಿಟ್ಟರು. ಇನ್ನೂ ವಿಷಾದಕರ ವಿಷಯ ಏನೆಂದರೆ ಈ ಪ್ರಾಣ ಭಯವೇ ಇದ್ದ ಆತ, ತನ್ನ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಗೋಪ್ಯವಾಗಿದ ಬೇಕೆಂದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿ ಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ .
ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗೆ ಆ ಹಂತಕರಿಗೆ ಜೇಲ್ ಶಿಕ್ಷೆ ಆಯಿತು. ಆದರೆ ಅವಿವೇಕತನದಿಂದ? ಅಥವಾ ಬೇಕಂತಲೇ ಅವನ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಬಹಿರಂಗ ಪಡಿಸಿದ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಏನೂ ಶಿಕ್ಷೆ ಆಗಲಿಲ್ಲವಲ್ಲ? ಏನು ಪ್ರಯೋಜನ?
ಆದರೆ ಹೋದ ಪ್ರಾಣ ಮತ್ತೆ ಬರುತ್ತದೆಯೇ?
ದೀಪಗಳಿಲ್ಲದೆ, ಬ್ರೇಕ್ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ, ಸೈಲೆನ್ಸೆರ್ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ, ಓವರ್ ಲೋಡ್, ಕಪ್ಪು ಗಾಜು, ಸರಿಯಾದ ನಂಬರ್ ಪ್ಲೇಟ್ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಇರುವ ರಸ್ತೆಗೆ ಅನರ್ಹವಾದ IMV ಕಾಯ್ದೆ ಬಾಹಿರ ವಾಹನಗಳೆಂದು ಗೊತ್ತಿದ್ದೂ ವಾಹನಗಳನ್ನು ನಡೆಸುವುದು.
ಸುರಕ್ಷಾ ಚಾಲನೆಗೆ ಅಗತ್ಯವಾದ ಕೈಯಿ ಕಾಲು, ಕಣ್ಣು, ಕಿವಿ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿಲ್ಲದಿರುವಾಗ ಇತರರಿಗೆ ಗಂಡಾಂತರ ಎಂದು ಅರಿವಿದ್ದರೂ ವಾಹನ ಚಲಿಸುವುದು .
ನಿದ್ದೆ ಸಾಲದಿರುವಾಗ , ಸುಸ್ತು, ಮದ್ಯ, ಮದ್ದು, ಮಾತ್ರೆ , ಕೋಪ ತಾಪ, ದುಃಖದ, ಉದ್ವೇಗ, ಆವೇಶ, ಉದ್ರೇಕಗಳ, ಮತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಹನ ಚಾಲನಾ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯ ಕುಂದಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಗೊತ್ತಿದ್ದರೂ ಓಡಿಸುವುದು.
ವೈಪರೀತ್ಯ ವಾತಾವರಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ - ದಟ್ಟ ಮಳೆ, ಹೊಗೆ, ಮಂಜು, ಬರ್ಫ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ ವಾಹನ ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸುವುದು.
ಇವೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಭಂಡ ಧೈರ್ಯದ ಪರಮಾವಧಿ. ಬೆಂಕಿಯೊಡನೆ ಸರಸವಾಡಿದಂತೆ. ಇವೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನು ಖಂಡಿತ ಸಮಾಜ ಸಹಿಸಬೇಕಾಗಿಲ್ಲ, ಸಹಿಸಕೂಡದು ಸಹ .

ಪಾಶ್ಚಾತ್ಯ ದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಬಗೆಯ ಗಂಭೀರವಾದ ರಸ್ತೆ ಉಲ್ಲಂಘನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಭಾರಿ ಮೊತ್ತದ ಜುಲ್ಮಾನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಧೀರ್ಗ ಸಜೆ ವಿಧಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಮತ್ತೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಲೈಸೆನ್ಸ್ ವಜಾ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಆದರೆ ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಏಕೋ ಒಂದು ಬಗೆಯ ನೊಂದವರಿಗೆ ಮೀಸಲಾಗಿರಿಸ ಬೇಕಾದ ಅಯ್ಯೋ ಪಾಪ ಮನೋಭಾವ ಉಲ್ಲಂಘನಾಕಾರರತ್ತ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ತೋರಿಸೋದಲ್ಲದೆ , ಹೊದ್ರೆಹೊಗಲಿ ಅಂತ ನೊಂದವರ ಬಾಯಿ ಮುಚ್ಚಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇದರಿಂದ ಉಲ್ಲಂಘನಾಕಾರರಿಗೆ ದುರಹಂಕಾರ, ಸೊಕ್ಕು, ಮತ್ತು ನೊಂದ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರಿಗೆ ಹತಾಶತೆ, ಕಾನೂನಿನತ್ತ ಅಗೌರವ ಬರುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಹಜವಲ್ಲವೇ ? ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾದ್ದೇನು?ಮಹಾತ್ಮ ಗಾಂಧೀ ಅವರ ಎಂದೆಂದಿಗೂ ಮರೆಯಲಾಗದ ಬುದ್ಧಿವಾದ.ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದನ್ನು ನೋಡ ಬೇಡ, ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದನ್ನು ಆಡ ಬೇಡ ,ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದನ್ನು ಕೇಳ ಬೇಡ.

ಅದನ್ನು ಅಕ್ಷರಶಃ ಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಒಂದು ಕೈ ಮೇಲೇ ಪಾಲಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು, ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ- ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರೂ, ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳೂ ಕೂಡ ,ನೋಡ ಬೇಕಾದದ್ದನ್ನೂ ನೋಡದೆ, ಕೇಳಬೇಕಾದದ್ದನ್ನೂ -ಯಾಕೆ, ಏನು ಎತ್ತ ಅಂತ ? - ಕೇಳದೆ, ಹೇಳ ಬೇಕಾದದ್ದನ್ನೂ -ಹೀಗೆ, ಹಾಗೆ ಅಂತ - ಹೇಳದೇ, ಮಾಡ ಬೇಕಾದದ್ದನ್ನೂ -ಮಾಡದೆ .

ಕೈಕಟ್ಟಿ ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿಯವರ ಕಲ್ಪನೆಯನ್ನೂ ಮೀರಿ ನಾಲಕ್ಕನೇ ಮಂಗವಾಗಿ ಕುಳಿತಿದ್ದೇವೆ . ಆದ್ದರಿಂದಲೇ ಈ ಹೀನಾಯ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸುತ್ತಿದೇವೆ.
ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರು, ಈ ತಾಂತ್ರಿಕ ಪ್ರಾಧಾನ್ಯ ಸೆಲ್ ಫೋನ್,ಇಂಟರ್ ನೆಟ್ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ, ಉಲ್ಲಂಘನಕಾರರ ವಿವರಗಳನ್ನು ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾದ ಚಿತ್ರ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ ಪುರಾವೆಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಒದಗಿಸಬೇಕು.
ಅದನ್ನು , ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು, ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕೆಲಸ ಸುಗಮಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಮಿತ್ರರು, ಹಿತೈಷಿಗಳು, ಪಕ್ಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯ ಮುಳ್ಳುಗಳಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿ ಕೊಂಡು,ಅವರ ಕಾನೂನು ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಪರಿಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರನ್ನು ವಿಶ್ವ ದರ್ಜೆಯ ನಗರವಾಗಿ ತತ್ಕ್ಷಣ ಮಾರ್ಪಡಿಸ ಬಹುದು ಮಾರ್ಪಡಿಸಬೇಕು..
ಎಲ್ಲರ ಹಿತ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯೊಡನೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮತ್ತು ಪರಿವಾರದವರ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಶಾಂತಿಯೂ ಉಳಿಯುತ್ತದೆ.

ವಾಹನಗಳಿಗೆ ಜೀವ ಇಲ್ಲ. ದಾನವತ್ವ ದೈವತ್ವ ಚೇತನ ತುಂಬುವ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಮಾನವನಿಗೆ ಇದೆ.. ಅವರು ಸಭ್ಯತೆಯಿಂದ ಮನುಷ್ಯರಂತೆ ವರ್ತಿಸಿದರೆ ಅವುಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಸಮಾಜದ ಸಭ್ಯತೆ ಗೌರವ ಪ್ರಕಟಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ ಪ್ರಕಾಶಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ರೀತಿ, ನೀತಿ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ರೌದ್ರತೆ ರೋಷ ಭರಿತ ಅಮಾನುಶತ್ವ ವನ್ನು ಈ ೪೫೦೦ ಕಿ .ಮಿ. ರಸ್ತೆಗಳೆಂಬ ಮೈದಾನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತೋರಿದರೆ ಅವು ರಣ ರಂಗವೆಂಬ ಕಸಾಯಿ ಖಾನೆಯಲ್ಲದೆ ಇನ್ನೇನಾಗಬಲ್ಲುದು ? ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಕೊನೆಪಕ್ಷ ೩ ಅನಾವಶ್ಯಕ ಸಾವುಗಳು, ೧೦ ಗಾಯಾಳುಗಳು. ಇದರಿಂದ ಸಮಾಜಕ್ಕೆ, ರಾಜ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಆಗುವ ನಷ್ಟ - ಕೋಟ್ಯಾಂತರ ರೂಪಾಯಿಗಳು. ಇನ್ಶುರೆನ್ಸ್ , ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆ, ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡ ಗಳಿಕೆ/ಸಂಬಳ ಅದರಿಂದಾಗುವ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಹಾನಿ ಅಪಾರ.
ನಂದಾ ಎಂದರೆ ಅನೇಕರಿಗೆ ಮೊದಲು ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವುದು BMW ಹಾಗು ಅದರಿಂದ ಸತ್ತ ಜೀವಗಳು.ಆ ಅಪಘಾತದ ಕೇಸಿನಿಂದ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಅವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಅವನ ಪರಿವಾರದವರು ಮಾಡಿದ ಧನದ ಮತ್ತು ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಪ್ರಭಾವಗಳ ಹರ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ. ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದ ಅತಿ ಸಂಭಾವಂತ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಮಂತ್ರಿ ಜಿ ಎಲ್ ನಂದಾ ಅಲ್ಲ.
ಸಾಲ್ಮಾನ್ ಖಾನ್ ಅಂದಕೂಡಲೇ ಅವನು ಮದ್ಯದ ಅಮಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಡಿದ ಮಾರಣಹೋಮದ ಆಹುತಿಗಳು.

ವಾಹನಗಳು, ಸೆಲ್ ಫೋನ್ ಗಳು ನಮ್ಮ ಜೀವನವನ್ನು ಉತ್ತಮ ಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಸಲಕರಣೆಗಳು ಮಾತ್ರ.
ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಂತೆಯೇ. ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಹೇಳಿಕೆಯಂತೆ Mind is a good servant but a bad master. ಮನಸ್ಸು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಆಳು, ಆದರೆ ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಧಣಿ.

ಸಲಕರಣೆಗಳು ಕೂಡ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ.
ಅವುಗಳ ವಶಕ್ಕೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಜೀವನದ ಎಷ್ಟು ಭಾಗವನ್ನು ಮುಡುಪಾಗಿದುತ್ತೇವೆ ಅಥವಾ ಮುಡುಪಾಗಿಡಲು
ಸಿದ್ಧರಿದ್ದೇವೆ ಎಂಬುವ ನಿರ್ಧಾರ ಖಂಡಿತ ನಮ್ಮದು ಮತ್ತು ಕೇವಲ ನಮ್ಮದು. ಉಪಯೋಗ ಎಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಮುಗಿಯುತ್ತದೆ ದುರುಪಯೋಗ ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಶುರುವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎನ್ನುವುದು ನಮಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗುವ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯ ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ ಎನ್ನುವುದು ನಮಗೇ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಬೇರೆ ಯಾರಾದರು, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಹಿತೈಷಿಗಳು, ಮಿತ್ರರು ಅಥವಾ ಬೇರೆ ಯಾರಾದರು ಹೇಳಬೇಕು. ನಿನಗೆ ಈ ನಡುವೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಕೇಳಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ? ಅಥವಾ ಈ ನಡುವೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಕಾಣಿಸುತ್ತದೆಯೇ? ಅನ್ನುವ ಹಾಗೆ. ನನಗೆ ದೃಷ್ಟಿ ಮಾಂದ್ಯ ಇದೆ ಎನ್ನುವ ಅಂಶ ನನಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗಿದ್ದು ನನ್ನ ೮ನೆ ತರಗತಿಯ ಜೀವ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ಅಧ್ಯಾಪಕಿ " ಕಣ್ಣು ಕಿವಿಚಿ ನೋಡುತ್ತೀಯ ನಿನಗೆ ಮಾಂದ್ಯ ವಿರಬೇಕು ಕಣ್ಣಿನ ತಜ್ಞರಿಗೆ ತೋರಿಸಿಕೋ" ಎಂದಾಗಲೇ. ಕಳೆದ ೪೭ ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ಕನ್ನಡಕ ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸುತ್ತಿದೇನೆ. ಸಲಕರಣೆಗಳಿಂದ ಆಗುವ ಹಾನಿಗಳು ಮರೆತುಹೋಗುವುದು ಅದರ ಉಪಯೋಗದ ಮತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮರೆತೇ ಹೋಗುವುದು ಬಹಳ ಸುಲಭ. ಪ್ರತಿನಿತ್ಯ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಉದ್ದಗಲ ಸೀಮಿತ ರಸ್ತೆಗಳಿಗೆ ೮೦೦ ವಾಹನಗಳು ರಾಕ್ಷಸ ಸಂತಾನದಂತೆ ಇಳಿಯುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಅಂದರೆ ಪ್ರತಿ ಕಿ ಮಿ ಉದ್ದದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು ೭೦ ವಾಹನಗಳು ನಿಂತಿರುತ್ತವೆ ಅಥವಾ ಓಡುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತವೆ. ಅವ್ಳುಗಳು ನಿಂತಿದ್ದರೂ ತೊಂದರೆ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಕೇವಲ ೬ ಅಡಿ ಉದ್ದ ೩ ಅಡಿ ಅಗಲ ಜಾಗ ಮಲಗಲು ಸಾಕು ಆದರೆ ದ್ವಿಚಕ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ೮ ಮತ್ತು ೪ ಆದರೂ ಅಂದರೆ ಎರಡರಷ್ಟು ಬೇಕು! ಚಲಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಅದರಿಂದಾಗುವ ಮೊದಲ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಹಾನಿ ಇತರರ ಆರೋಗ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ. ಪ್ರತಿನಿತ್ಯ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ವಾಯು ಪರಿಸರದೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ವಾಹನಗಳು ೧೫೦೦ ಟನ್ಸ ವಿಶಾನಿಲಗಳನ್ನು ತುಂಬುತ್ತಿವೆ.
ಇದರಿಂದ , ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿಗರು ಪ್ರತಿ ವರ್ಷ ೮೦೦ ಕೋಟ ರೂಪಾಯಿಗಳಷ್ಟು ಮಾಲಿನ್ಯ ಸಂಭಂದಿ ಆಸ್ತಮಾ, ಶ್ವಾಸ ಕೋಶ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ ಸೆರ್ , ಕೆಮ್ಮು, ನೆಗಡಿ ,ಕಣ್ಣಿನ ಉರಿ, ಉಸಿರಾಟದ ತೊಂದರೆಗಳು ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ ರೋಗಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಖರ್ಚು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲದೆ , ಶಬ್ದ ಮಾಲಿನ್ಯದಿಂದ ಆಗುವ ತೊಂದರೆಗಳು ಅನೇಕ.
ರಸ್ತೆ ಎಂಬ ರಣರಂಗದ ಹೋಲಿಕೆಯ ಸೂಕ್ತತೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೇ ಮುಗಿಯದು..
ಅದು ನಿರ್ಜೀವ ವಸ್ತುವಾದರೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುವ ಯುದ್ಧದ ಪರಿಣಾಮ ನೀವು ಮನೆಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಡುವ ಮುಂಚೆಯೇ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಚಡಪಡಿಸಿ ಮನೋ ಶಾಂತಿಯನ್ನು ಸಂಯಮತೆಯನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಅದಕ್ಕಿದೆ. ಅದು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮಗಿಂತ ಮುಂಚೆ ಇಳಿದ ಯೋಧರ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವಲಂಬಿಸಿದೆ.
ಒಂದು ವಿಧದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ತಿ ದಿವಸದ ಸಂತೋಷ, ತಾಳ್ಮೆ, ಶಾಂತಿಯ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಮನೆಯ ಹೊರಗೆ ಒಂದು ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ಇದುವ ಮೊದಲೇ ಮುಗಿದಿರುತ್ತದೆ.
ಈ ನಿತ್ಯಾನುಭವದ ಫಲಿತಾಂಶ ಕಾಲಾಂತರ ಬಡ್ಡಿಯ ಸಮೇತ ದೇಹ , ಮನೋ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಮುಖಾಂತರ ಒಮ್ಮೆಲೇ ಬೆಳಕಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ.
ಸೈಲೆಂಸೆರ್ ಇಲ್ಲದ , ಮ್ಯುಸಿಕಾಲ್/ಏರ ಹಾರನ್ ಕೊಂಬು ಕಹಳೆ ಗಳಿಂದ , ಅಥವಾ ಅತಿ ಶಭ್ಧ ಮಾಡುವಂತೆ ಅಳವಡಿಸಿ ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಿ ಚಲಿಸುವ ಗಾಡಿಗಳಿಂದ ಮತ್ತೆಂದಿಗೂ ಸರಿಪಡಿಸಲಾಗದ ಶಾಶ್ವತ ಕಿವುಡು , ತಲೆನೋವು, ಕೋಪ ತಾಪಗಳಿಂದ ಆಗುವ ಕೆಲಸ, ಕಾರ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಧನ ಹಾನಿಗಳಿಂದ ಬವಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ.
ಪ್ರತಿ ಒಂದು ಸೆಕೆಂಡ್ ಹಾರ್ನ್ ಬಾರಿಸುವುದರಿಂದ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ೮೦೦೦ ನಾಗರೀಕರ ಕಿವಿಗಳು ಗಡಚಿಕ್ಕುತ್ತವೆ .

ಈ ನಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವ ದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಒಂದೇ ಎಂದು ಭಾವಿಸಬೇಕಾದ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಚಾಲಕರು ಮಿತ್ರರು ವೈರಿಗಳು, ಮನೆಯವರು, ಪರರು ಎನ್ನುವ ಭೇಧ ಭಾವಗಲ್ಲಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಎಲ್ಲರ ಕಿವಿಯಲ್ಲೂ ಕಾದ ಸೀಸ ಸುರಿಯುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಭಾರತದ ಪ್ರಜಾ ತಂತ್ರದ ವಿಶೇಷ ವೈಖರಿ !
ಇದನ್ನು ಕೂಡಲೇ ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಲು ಹೆಚ್ಚೇನೂ ಬೇಕಾಗಿಲ್ಲ.
೧) : ನನ್ನಿಂದ ಸಮಾಜಕ್ಕೆ ಉಪಯೋಗ ಅಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೂ ಕಿಂಚಿತ್ತೂ ಹಾನಿ ಆಗ ಕೂಡದು ಎಂಬ ಮನೋ ನಿರ್ಧಾರ .
೨) ಜೀವನವೆಲ್ಲ ನಾವು ಹೋರಾಡುವ ಶಾಂತಿ, ಸಮಾಧಾನದ ಸಾಧನ - ಎಲ್ಲೆಡೆಯಲ್ಲೂ ಸದಾಕಾಲವೂ ಶಬ್ದ ಮಾಲಿನ್ಯ ೪೫ ರಿಂದ ೬೫ ಡಿ ಬಿ ಒಳಗೆ ಇರಬೇಕು ಎನ್ನುವ ತೀರ್ಪನ್ನು - ಅತ್ಯುಚ್ಚ ನ್ಯಾಯಾಲಯ ನಮ್ಮಗಳ ಹಿತಕ್ಕೊಸ್ಕರವಾಗಿಯೇ ಸುಮಾರು ೧೦ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆಯೇ ನೀಡಿದೆ. ಅದನ್ನು ಅಕ್ಷರಶಹ ಪಾಲಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ, ಪಾಲಿಸಲು ಬೇಕಾದ ಎಲ್ಲ ವಿಧಿ ನಿಯಮಗಳನ್ನು ಪೋಲೀಸ್, ಬಿ ಎಂ ಪಿ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ ಕಾಯ್ದೆಗಳ ಮುಖಾಂತರ ಹೊರಡಿಸಲು ಬೇಕಾದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಆಗ್ರಹಗಳನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇವೆ ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರತಿಜ್ಞೆ.
ಇದನ್ನು ಓದುವ ಓದಿದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ಪ್ರಜಾ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಿನಂತಿ: ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕೈಲಿ ಆಗುವುದೆಲ್ಲ ತತ್ಕ್ಷಣ ಮಾಡಿ ನಾಳೆಗೆ, ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರಿಗೆ ಕಾಯಬೇಡಿ.

Why do we license auto,taxi, coolie raja (D)Evils to be Bengaluru Brand Ambassadors?

Bangalore is considered one of the best destinations for tourists, visitors, residents and retirees etc.
Any one coming into a city is first greeted by the port of entry-bus,train station or airport.
The kind of people you run into first leaves the lasting impression of any city.
Hired transport like autos and taxis, coolies, are invariably the first impression.
If they cheat on their fare, take you for a ride at your expense, talk rudely to you or recommend a stranger to a hotel because the hotel gives you a finders fee, the impression on the visitor is bound to be disgust.
Fare gouging is considered a very serious offense which can cost the taxi company owner and driver license to operate in the west. It is benevolently tolerated here.
The porters at the bus and train stations are rude, greedy and 'unregulated ' 'licensed' mob.
Since public transport is miserable in Bangalore especially for visitors with baggage, the only option they have is autorickshaws.
Taxis offered a more respectable option but become too expensive for one or two passengers.
But with the advent of new breed of fourwheeled goondas even they have fallen to disrepute.
Autorickshaws have ended up being the major mode of daily transport.
Public transport is inaccessible, inadequate in the residential areas which have crept beyond the reach of major roads,during the unregulated growth of the city with privately developedbadly laid lay outs with narrow roads.
Autos having become a necessity, but we have nurtured them into evils by tolerating their excesses.
We dont demand from the authorities to regulate and control them, to do so.

There is no control on the type of people who can get drivers licenses.
They are rude, greedy, discourteous.
Worst of all, are horrible drivers, honking and speed demons, grossly violating lane, traffic rules left to right, driving their autos into spaces that can just fit their front wheel causing innumerable unreported accidents.
They have no use for traffic rules.
They tamper the meters with impunity, provided by lax enforcement or governance.
The anti citizen, two tiered-one and ahlf times day rate for night rates - have encouraged a whole breed of "NIGHT AUTOS"
whose meters are so grossly tampered they cannot ever fall in to the legal metrology sleuths hands.
This rule was probably brought in at the expense of the citizens, as the government buckled under the union pressure.
The mandatory display of driver details in the auto is meaningless because most autos are run on hire basis by the driver.
One auto is driven probably on 3 shifts by different drivers. It would be more meaningful if the driver wears a photo badge with name and licence detail so there is some accountability for their behaviour and action. As it is any threat of complaint will be countered by the usual response you can complain to anybody you want

even if you do manage to get the auto registration number- despite the defective, no side board, very small lettering and only in kannada number plates.
This only kannada number plate menace has spread encouraging rude, irresponsible,lawlessness born of the confidence that many enforcement authorities can not read kannada numbers.
Bhasha Abhimana, in this case is an index of lawlessness of the driver/owner.
A deplorable state of affairs.
Hiring an auto or taxi is an express contract to take you to your destination.
When ever anyone complains about tampered meter, the standard response of the driver is to stop the vehicle and force you to take another auto-again another process of begging and bargaining to get to your destination. Because there is no easily enforceable punity for refusal to ply.
Worse they even demand the fare for the distance he drove you.
The legal position should be brought on par with the west by enforcement there is no liability to pay for an incompelte contract- taking you part way to your destination.
Authorities should highlight these rights of citizens and enforce them ruthlessly. Sporadic drives against refusal to ply, traffic violations, meter tampering etc will not help.
They just coalesce these drivers into a more ruffian and riotous group.
The police, legal metrology and transport authorities do not take regular punitive or preemptive action
on meter tampering or traffic violations in specific cases.
What is worse, even upon tedious complaint procedure by citizens, they do not act.
Infact, if you do manage to take these auto drivers to the nearest police man or station, most often they subtly pacify you into yielding to the drivers demand rather than uphold law and citizens rights.
You can see this kind of scratch my back I scratch yours arrangement, in front of major tourist points, malls and theatre complexes.
They allow these goondas to form unions who just create law and order problems by organizing these autodrivers into a cohesive goonda power.
The authorities should demand a strict enforceable code of conduct and behaviour from these unions and its members before they recognize these unions.
Failure to follow existing rules and conditions of civilized behaviour should mean automatic cancellation of the driver's and autorickshaw commercial license.
This is particularly essential for meter tampering, refusal to ply,excess fare and rude behaviour.
Three chances(if indeed necessary) can be given before enforcement.
We the citizens and the government should remember that these goondas if we dont control them, will become Bengaluru brand ambassadors if they already are not.
It is time we took strict action to repair the damage to the city's image and the citizens daily lives by these auto rajas.

is this morally,ethically, legally justifiable?

Dear Madam Secretary of State Mrs Hillary Clinton,
I have to use the state department website "ask us" since I could not find your "secretary of state" email address.

I have been driven to seek this clarification from you as the head of all US diplomatic missions world wide, after watching a series of episodes of Jailed Abroad broadcast by National Geographic.
The latest episode of David Evans broadcast recently where he was repatriated to USA (Presumably under the promise of serving out the rest of his eight year term) but was released early (in compensation for the 2 years already spent?) has prompted this.
These are mostly cases of US citizens or residents who have been convicted of violating drug laws of other nations and have been convicted and jailed outside USA.
Obviously most end with the embassy/mission/ government(?) / senators or humanitarian(?) organizations intervening
on their behlaf with the foreign governments and have them pardoned and released early.
On one hand the world is led to believe that the success of US of A is because of the law obedience of US citizens.
It is also clear that much of the respect is due to the diligence with which law is enforced and hence upheld at all levels of life in the US of A.
At this point I have difficulty fathoming the purpose of this series- is it to evoke sympathy for those jailed abroad? then it fails miserably.
What is left behind is a sense of anger that they - not one episode appeared to suggest that these were unfairly convicted?-escaped the due punishment thanks to the lenient attitude exhibited by USA towards criminal acts of its citizens in other countries?
However what becomes obvious to the global viewers is the sustained official effort by USA to get its subjects released from jails abroad, for crimes-no doubt they are crimes of a very high order.
In view of the enormous ripple effects on the society drug smuggling and terrorism should rank death penalty.
Though USA appears to take a more lenient view of both these grave menaces.
These official/nonofficial interventional efforts no matter how nobly motivated leave behind a sense of injustice in the minds of the viewers.

That there is a differential leniency / attitude towards US citizens becomes obvious when the world sees the thirty eight years hounding of Roman Polanski a french citizen, or deported John Demjanjuk the 89 year old Nazi guard , as opposed to that of Michael Jackson or these cases.


How, why and when are these interventions and consequent leniency justifiable morally, ehtically or legally?
