cops complicity in accident insurance claims

Thanks to Hemant Kashyap for highlighting a very serious issue that is making insurance costly for every vehicle owner because of such fraud.

The country loses/wastes 15000 plus crores, much of it wasted in avoidable claims and health care costs from vehicle accidents.

What is predictable is the shameless reaction of the guilty, that they are victims of a

conspiracy. They learn this valuable trick from the politicians the only other people with easy access to media.

This can be reduced if the investigation is given to an unbiased third party.

But given the deep rooted crime insurance fraud has become with the complicity of the police as the only investigating agency it might be impossible to eradicate unless equal powers are given to the insurance companies to independly investigate the accidents for their own purposes.

That will require that the concerned insurance companies be immediately intimated of the accident.

If the vehicle is uninsured, driver unlicensed or intoxicated where the insurance will not cover, it should be mandatory to inform the victims or the opposite parties.

This is the root of the evil because in this circumstance, the victims want to get the compensation and it may not be collectable from the owner or his Legal representatives.

Then the collective cover up begins for the lure of the money.
